Well, let's try this again. I've always been into fitness to some degree although I do let it slide from time to time. Mostly self-oriented stuff like running, cycling and weights. Unfortunately, I kinda like my beer too. Jack Daniels is good. Vermouth I like too. You get the idea.

So even though I work out regularly, I've found my blood pressure a bit high and my waist a bit bigger than I'd like. sigh. The doctor keeps saying more exercise even though at one point I was working out 3 times a day (not long periods but none-the-less). Took blood pressure pills for a year or so. Dang things are expensive. Anyway, my wife got on one of her "I need to lose weight" things. Normally I'll listen politely and try really hard not to get in the dog house.

She heard about South Beach from someone so I got her the book and decided being supportive means do it too. In 3 months, she lost about 20 pounds. I only lost 13 or so but blood pressure is normal, no meds! Working out is a little more enjoyable - I'm at it for fun. Sounds wrong when you say that out loud. We went for a group hike in the mountains last weekend and had a pretty good time. Kept up just fine too and I was the 2nd oldest one there.
